Resumo
This paper aims to analyse the implications of negotiating Critical Management Studies(CMS) oriented ethnographic research access on the possibilities of following research ethicalcodes and remain coherent with CMS principles at the same time. By doing that we seek tocontribute to the CMS literature which tends to under analyse the ethical aspect of its researchpractices and OS where formal ethnographic research access has attracted very littletheoretical scholarly attention. In addition, we also aim to contribute to broader debates aboutqualitative research practices by highlighting the ethical implications that can be associatedwith conditions of establishing formal research access. Rather than calling for a new, revisedcode of ethics, we appeal for a more open and honest debate about the pragmatic realities ofcritical, organisational ethnographic research.
