The current paper addresses the concept of the collective mind and heedful interrelatingas addressed by Weick and Roberts (1993). Heedful interrelating refers to the possibilityof team members acting on the basis of team-level cognitive schema that are used toframe and orient action. The concepts of collective mind and heedful interrelating aretheoretically disentangled and related to the literature on individual and teamperformance, shared mental models, and within-group agreement. Following this, a seriesof propositions are provided in order to guide future research on the concept of collectivemind and heedful interrelating as discussed by Weick and Roberts (1993), providingguidelines for integrating these constructs within the groups and teams literature. Ageneral summary is then provided.
